Spotting Location 2 – GFS Headquarters

The name of this location is quite misleading as you’re not actually supposed to be spotting from outside the GFS headquarters. You’re welcome to try doing so, but most of the time you’ll be catching the butt of planes departing from 25L. I mean the APU exhaust and rear fuselage are quite sexy, but I’d rather catch the front. To get the right angle, you should be approximately halfway between the threshold of 07R and the GFS headquarters. This spot is really only good for 25L departures and 07R arrivals (which come at best once every hour). 07R departures are visible, however you won’t be able to get any shots due to the fence.

To get here you’ll again have to take the S52 bus from Tung Chung, then get off at the stop called “GFS Headquarters”. After that, walk 10 minutes or so west towards the threshold of 07R. Depending on how fast you walk, that should put you at the right spot. There’s definitely no precise spot that’s one-size-fits-all, so you’ll have to shift around a bit depending on what kind of movement is happening. If you’re in the passenger terminal, take the S1 bus to the Tung Chung MTR station and then take the S52 from there. Remember to only take the S52 bus that says “Aircraft Maintenance Area” on the front, otherwise you’ll get yourself hopelessly lost. The return S52 bus that goes in the opposite direction also stops at the MTR station before proceeding to its final station in another part of Tung Chung.

Lighting is good most of the day (especially around noon) but remember that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west so you might get some side-lighting when shooting 25L departures in the early morning.

a brand new reader. What might you suggest about your post that
you just made some days ago? Any positive?
